Terms of service

Last updated 25 October 2026

These terms apply when you use Stour Sites to build and look after your website. They're written in plain English. If anything is unclear, ask us before you sign up.

1. Who we are

Stour Sites is the trading name of Harrison Thornley, a sole trader based in Stourbridge, West Midlands. Full postal address available on request. Email: [email protected]. Phone: 07476 793735.

2. Your free preview

We build a preview of your new website for free, with no obligation. If you don't go ahead, you owe nothing and we take the preview down. The preview design remains ours unless you sign up.

3. Fees and payment

  1. The standard price is a one-off setup fee of £200, then £49 a month. Founding clients pay no setup fee and keep the £49 monthly price for as long as they stay with us.
  2. The setup fee is due when you approve your preview. Monthly fees are paid in advance, starting from the day your site goes live.
  3. We are not currently VAT registered, so no VAT is added to our prices.
  4. If a payment is more than 14 days late, we'll contact you. If it's still unpaid after a further 14 days, we may take your site offline until it's paid.
  5. For clients not on founding rates, we'll give at least 30 days' notice of any price change.

4. Minimum term and cancelling

  1. There is a 6-month minimum term from the day your site goes live. After that, the service runs month to month and you can cancel with 30 days' notice by email.
  2. 30-day promise: if you're not happy within the first 30 days after your site goes live, you can cancel straight away and we'll refund your first monthly payment. The setup fee isn't refundable once your site is live, because that work has already been done.

5. What's included every month

  1. Hosting, security updates, and fixes if anything on your site breaks.
  2. Daily checks that your site is online.
  3. Up to 3 small changes a month. A small change is one that takes about 20 minutes, such as updating prices, swapping a photo, changing opening hours or rewording a paragraph. We complete each one within 2 working days of your request.
  4. Unused changes don't roll over to the next month.
  5. Extra small changes in the same month cost £20 each. Bigger work, such as new pages, booking systems, online shops or new features, is quoted separately, and we'll agree the price with you before starting.

6. Your domain

Your domain (your web address) is registered in your name, so it always belongs to you. If we register or renew it on your behalf, we'll pass on the cost at the price we pay. If you leave, we'll help you point it somewhere else.

7. Your content

  1. You're responsible for making sure you have the right to use any logos, photos, text or other material you send us, and that the information about your business (such as prices and opening hours) is accurate.
  2. Images and copy we create or source for your site are licensed for use on your website while you're a client, and become yours if you buy a copy of your site (see section 8).
  3. We may show your site in our portfolio unless you ask us not to.

8. If you leave

  1. While you're a client, we host your site and you have the right to use it.
  2. When you leave after the minimum term, you can buy a full copy of your website for a fixed £250, to host wherever you like. If you don't, we take the site down at the end of your notice period.
  3. Your domain stays yours either way.

9. Keeping your site online

We work hard to keep your site online and check it every day, but we can't guarantee it will never be unavailable, for example during an outage at our hosting provider. If something goes wrong, we'll fix it as quickly as we reasonably can.

10. Liability

Our total liability to you under these terms is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the problem arose. We aren't liable for indirect losses such as lost profits or lost business. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

11. If we end the service

We can end the service with 30 days' notice. We can end it immediately if fees remain unpaid as described in section 3, or if your site is used for anything unlawful. If we end the service without it being your fault, we'll give you a copy of your site free of charge.

12. Personal data

Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information. Where your website collects details from your own customers (for example through a contact form), we process that data only to run your site, and on your instructions.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If a change affects you as an existing client, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect.

14. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
